Alabama Smucker’s Plant Among List of Large-Scale Manufacturing Projects

March 5, 2024|

McCALLA, Ala. – The J.M. Smucker Co. is on schedule with its construction of a $1.1 billion plant – one of several – to keep pace with production of its Uncrustables product line.

Phase I of the two-phase project spans 900,000 square feet within the 739-acre Jefferson Metropolitan Park in McCalla, Alabama. The city is located 20 miles southwest of Birmingham.

The new plant is projected to bring 750 permanent jobs to Jefferson County.

Springfield, Mass.-based Dennis Group is the contractor.

The project is expected to wrap up in May.

It will be the third plant in the U.S. exclusively focusing on manufacturing of Uncrustables, Smucker’s pre-made frozen sandwiches.
