DALLAS, Texas – Construction is anticipated to begin in mid-2024 on one of the largest pediatric hospital campuses in the U.S.
St. Louis-based McCarthy Building Companies and Houston-based Vaughn Construction have won a $5 billion award to deliver the replacement Children’s Health hospital in Dallas by 2030-2031.
The joint venture project team will build more than 500 beds in the future facility, which will span 4.5 million square feet and accommodate 38 percent more patients than the existing facility.
The new hospital will also represent a 15 percent larger emergency department and 22 percent more operating room space.
A Level I pediatric trauma classification is part of the plans.
