$1.8 Billion Boeing Defense Project to Create 500 STL Jobs
ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The The Boeing Co’s announcement in mid-August of a nearly $2 billion construction project in North St. Louis County is anticipated to create 500 new jobs for the region.
Dubbed Project Voyager, the project – which has yet to announce its St, Louis-centric construction team – will produce several facilities to support new aerospace programs at its existing location in St. Louis.
The $1.8 billion project will slightly surpass the magnitude of the new National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency’s headquarters, a $1.7 billion construction project.
According to St. Louis Building & Construction Trades Council Secretary-Treasurer John Stiffler, the Boeing project hadn’t emerged until a few months ago but is already materializing at a swift pace.
Boeing plans to construct multiple buildings at two sites very near St. Louis Lambert International Airport and add several hundred persons to its current St. Louis-based roster of 16,000 employees.
