GREENSBORO, N.C. – Aerospace company JetZero, based in Long Beach, Calif., just broke ground on its first manufacturing and final assembly campus in Greensboro, N.C.
HITT Contracting is serving as the general contractor for the first phase of the 8 million-square-foot factory; it is being built on more than 600 acres on the Piedmont Triad International Airport campus and is expected to create 14,500 jobs over the next decade.
The $4.7 billion investment is being supported by the largest-ever state incentive package for a startup.
JetZero will build its Z4 aircraft, which is designed for the commercial middle market with a capacity of 250 passengers and a range of up to 5,000 nautical miles. The company reports the Z4 is 50 percent more fuel efficient and offers an “elevated passenger experience.”
Construction broke ground on June 15 and is expected to deliver the first airplanes by the early 2030s.
