CHESAPEAKE, Va. – The largest vertical construction project wrapping in 2027 in Virginia is the LS GreenLink advanced manufacturing and pier complex in Chesapeake, Va.

Centered around a 660-foot vertical continuous vulcanization tower, the $681 million facility will become the tallest structure in the Commonwealth when completed in late 2027.

Hyundai Engineering Co., Ltd. is serving as the general contractor, with Hanmi Global Co., Ltd. as the construction manager and Heerim Architects & Planners Co., Ltd. as the principal architect.

Backed by a nearly $700 million investment by LS Cable & System, Phase 1 is underway. The total project cost exceeds $1.3 billion.

Key details of this towering development include:

  • The 660-foot VCV tower, which will surpass the Westin Virginia Beach Town Center – which stands at 508 feet – to become Virginia’s tallest building.
  • The facility: The accompanying manufacturing plant that will span 750,000 square feet
  • The operation: The factory , which will produce high-voltage submarine cables vital to the offshore wind industry
