DETROIT, Mich. – Detroit PBS – under its parent Detroit Public Media – will soon move into a new home in the Milwaukee Junction neighborhood after recently completing a $7.5 million challenge grant that brings the organization that much closer to its $40 million capital campaign goal.

Sachse Construction is the general contractor.

Hamilton Anderson Associates is the architect.

The new 50,000-square-foot Fred and Barbara Erb Public Media Campus will bring together both Detroit PBS and 90.9 WRCJ in the same location, allowing for greater public media programming and events for the community.

The new facility will be located in an old General Motors engineering facility and will be designed as both a broadcast facility as well as a community venue, including space for live performances, educational programming, studio productions and public events.

Detroit PBS sold its previous headquarters in 2023 and has been located in temporary studios ever since.

Construction on the new facility is expected to begin this summer, and the new campus should open in 2027.
