When it came time for new work boots, I assumed they all were basically the same as the last pair I bought: tough yet rigid, safe but terribly uncomfortable. The kind of boots you were thankful for while wearing them, but oh so grateful to have off your feet at the end of a long work day.
So, when I decided to try out a new pair from Georgia Boot – specifically the AMP LT composite toe low-heel logger – I expected more of the same.
I didn’t even have them all the way on before realizing how wrong I was.
The soft lining under the waterproof membrane combined with the AMP LT memory foam insole make this boot a true pleasure to slip on. It also has a steel shank for additional arch support and stability, which means your dogs won’t be barking before you even make it to lunch — something I wasn’t used to but certainly enjoyed.
In addition to being comfortable, these things are also rugged – and, frankly, made me feel more rugged just wearing them. The Goodyear welt construction, the beefy outsole, the 9 inches of height — these boots are just, well, tough.
Safety is standard
They’ve also perfectly nailed the must-have safety features you need on a construction or industrial worksite:
- Composite toe protection: Built with an Ergo-Fit composite toe cap, the boot is designed to contour to the natural shape of your foot. This ergonomic design allows for greater toe mobility while still meeting ASTM F2413 I75/C75 impact and compression standards.
- Electrical hazard rating: The boot also carries an ASTM F2413 electrical hazard certification, a must-have if you regularly work around live circuits or energized equipment.
- Slip- and oil-resistant outsole: The rubber lug outsole is engineered for traction across uneven, slick or oily surfaces.
- Waterproof system: With winter upon us, Georgia’s proprietary waterproof membrane keeps your feet dry in wet conditions without sacrificing breathability.
- “Barnyard-proof” SPR leather: The leather upper resists caustic alkali, sulfuric acid and other corrosive substances you might come across in many agricultural and industrial settings.
- Heel-stabilizing counter lock: The boot’s counter lock system secures the heel to prevent slippage inside the boot, which not only improves fit but also reduces the risk of ankle instability on uneven terrain.

Boots to make you love boots again
Let’s face it: Your PPE is not complete without proper footwear for the jobsite. And if you have to lace up anyway, you might as well do it in comfort. After all, if you’re like me, when your feet ache, it’s hard to concentrate on the job, which means the right pair of work boots can both reduce your injury risk and boost productivity.
These Georgia Boots have me completely rethinking my work boot bias. And just like that previous pair that caused me so much discomfort, I’m glad to let it go.
