SALT LAKE CITY COUNTY, Utah – A $446 million freeway pathway that will connect Salt Lake City County to State Route 173 in Utah County is making sizable progress.

The 35-mile freeway connector, known as the Mountain View Corridor, began construction in March 2024. Utah Dept. of Transportation project engineers anticipate that the phased construction progress will also eventually culminate in 27 miles of multi-use trails and 35 pedestrian bridges and crossings.

UDOT is currently designing the freeway section between Porton Rockwell Blvd. in Herriman and Old Bingham Highway in West Jordan.

Northwest Utah County and Southwest Salt Lake County drivers rely heavily on the route, which now includes many intersections. UDOT officials say much of the work will involve converting these intersections to fully functional interstate interchanges.
