MASCOUTAH, Ill. – Holland Construction Services and Plocher Construction Co. continue their work in building out the Metrolink rail extension from the Shiloh-Scott station to MidAmerica Airport.

The 5.5-mile extension consists of nearly three miles of a double-track section section (Holland) and 2.6 miles of single-track section (Plocher). The project is part of the state’s $45 billion Rebuild Illinois Capital Program.

Holland is spearheading construction on the double-track section.

As of July 10, Holland has made the following progress on three major structures that will support the track:

Rieder Road Bridge (open to traffic July 11): Piles completed, mechanically stabilized earth wall built, abutments poured, steel in and concrete deck poured

Silver Creek Bridge: Abutments poured, piers drilled, piles and bearings installed (next step is to finish setting steel and begin painting)

Little Silver Creek Bridge: Abutments completed, piers drilled, piles in, bearings and steel ready (current work includes painting the steel before moving on to precast ballast slabs)

In addition to the rail extension, a bike trail will run parallel to the track from the Shiloh-Scott Metrolink station to the new MidAmerica Metrolink station, the latter of which is the new terminus for the light rail system.
