NORFOLK, Va. – As part of the $1 billion TransformORF initiative, Norfolk International Airport’s largest project since 1974, the regional airport recently opened a three-gate expansion and concessions.

At close to 19,000 square feet over two levels, Gresham Smith Architects and construction manager at risk W.M. Jordan lead the Concourse A expansion in addition to a new customs facility, the latter of which cost $31 million, $13.5 of which came from federal funds.

Additional TransformORF projects under construction include roadway realignments and a consolidated rental car facility. Other contractors involved in the program include Tazewell Contracting, Antigo Construction, J.E. Dunn and Hourigan.
