THE CLASS OFFICERS
It is not the work of the Reunion Chairperson(s)
or Class President alone that makes a memorable reunion. The most
successful reunions are the result of a group effort by a reunion
committee consisting of all class officers and other interested
classmates. Involving several of your former classmates in the early
planning stages ensures participation by a greater number of them at
Alumnae/i College.
THE CLASS PRESIDENT
The Class President leads the way with
assisting the Reunion Chair in reunion planning, personal contacts, news
gathering, name and address corrections, and generating nominations for
the Angela Merici and Ursula Laurus Awards. The President is ultimately responsible
for the slate of officers for the next five years and for filing an
election report with the Alumnae/i Office so that our records remain
accurate.
THE REUNION CHAIR
The
Reunion Chair is responsible for the organization of her class
reunion.
Specific duties include:
1. Appointing subcommittee chairpersons as
needed. Larger classes may have several active committees working on
hospitality, the class booklet, etc. In smaller classes many of the
duties may be assumed by the Reunion Chairperson, with one or two
assistants.
2. Attending the Reunion Workshop. If this is
not possible, a designated class member should attend in her place. The
Alumnae/i Office should be notified of the substitute’s name.
3. Maintaining
close contact with the Alumnae/i Office so reunion mailings and plans
will be coordinated with all Alumnae/i College events.
4. Meets deadlines.
5. Notifying the Alumnae/i Office of any
corrections, additions, or deletions in the class address list,
especially current addresses for those listed as “Lost.”
6. Notifying Alumnae/i Relations by December 1st
of the amount of the class reunion fee and who will collect it so
that the information can be included in the mailed invitation.
7. If no one else is designated to do so, collect
the class reunion fee which covers class favors, hospitality costs and
booklet expenses.
8. Filing two copies of the class booklet with
the Alumnae/i Office. One will be kept in the class file; the other is
sent to Archives.
If a class has more than one Reunion Chair, we
ask that one chair be designated as the liaison to the Alumnae/i
Relations office to minimize any potential confusion of projects.
THE CLASS NEWS AGENT
The
Class News Agent makes a special effort to submit class notes to Quarterly
during the year before reunion. She can help locate classmates not on our lists
so they can re-establish contact with the class. In some cases, this person assists in the
creation of the class lists for the class booklet. The
editor specifies deadlines for submitting copy to the Quarterly.
THE CLASS FUND AGENT
The Class Fund
Agent solicits the class for gifts to the Annual Fund. Enlisting the aid and services of other
class officers and the reunion committee increases the percentage of
giving and the size of the donations. The Fund Agent will work with
College representatives to set a goal and determine the best plan of
action for fundraising throughout the fiscal year.
