CNR's First Sustainability Garden The College of New Rochelle’s first Sustainability Garden was planted on the Main Campus on April 21, 2010, by students and faculty of CNR. Dowell Lecture Given by Dr. Falguni A. Sheth The annual Elvira M. Dowell ’36 Lecture was given by author and Associate Professor of Philosophy and Political Theory at Hampshire College, Dr. Falguni A. Sheth on April 22, 2010. SAS Alumnae Artist Panel The SAS Art Department, in conjunction with the Castle Gallery, hosted an Art Alumnae Panel on Wednesday, April 14 at 7 PM in the Castle Gallery. Graduate Student Helps Unemployed Isabel Valenzuela, a Mental Health Graduate student at CNR, has served as a volunteer counselor at Volunteer Counseling Services of New City for the past 18 months. CNR's High School Math Day The College of New Rochelle and its Math Department celebrates the third annual Sonia Kovalevsky Mathematics Day The Life of Dorothy Day Event On the evening of March 23, 2010, Robert Ellsberg delivered the Inaugural Sr. Alice Gallin Lecture, “A Celebration of the Life of Dorothy Day,” to a crowded Romita Auditorium on the Main Campus. G.O.L.D.- Life After CNR Event Over seventy-five students and alums gathered at Romita Auditorium last Thursday, March 18, 2010 for a "Life After CNR" Alumnae/i Panel that was sponsored by Alumnae/i Relations and Student Development during Spirit Week. CNR Receives Community Service Award The College of New Rochelle has been named to the 2009 President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll, the highest federal recognition a college or university can receive for its commitment to volunteering, service-learning and civic engagement. Alumnae Luncheon in Honolulu A group CNR alumnae came together in Honolulu, Hawaii on Wednesday, February 24, 2010 for an intimate lunch gathering.
Louise Laplante SAS'74 Art Show Louise Laplante SAS'74 of Easthampton, MA, will show a selection of her recent work on the theme of memory at the Amy H. Carberry Fine Arts Gallery at Springfield Technical Community College on March 5 through April 2. The Ethics of Uncertainty Over 100 students and alumnae/i were present on January 27th for a discussion by Dr. Michael Anker, on The Ethics of Uncertainty. Sr. Francis Marie Thrailkill, O.S.U., SAS'61 The Wheeling Jesuit University Board of Directors and Board of Trustees has announced the appointment of a new interim president for the university, Sister Francis Marie Thrailkill, O.S.U., SAS'61, Ed.D. She will be the first female leader of the university and she arrives on campus February 8, 2010. Carol Murphy SAS'69 Carol Murphy SAS'69 was named to the legion of Honor in 2006 by then French President Jacques Chirac.
